  • On-Site Parking & Excellent Public Transport Links We are seeking Identity Engineers to support our busy IDAM team and assist in designing, building, and maintaining systems that control access to the university's applications, data, devices, and infrastructure.

Delivering secure and reliable identity solutions that underpin the University’s digital services, security posture and regulatory compliance.

This role combines specialist identity engineering expertise with operational support, continuous improvement, and service optimisation and plays a critical part in protecting sensitive data, enforcing security policies, and enabling compliant user access across applications and systems.

It will offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on a critical service while developing specialist identity engineering expertise in a complex, collaborative, and rewarding environment.

We require deep technical expertise with a strong service focus and good exposure of responsibility for developing, integrating, and supporting identity tooling (e. g.

Entra ID, Active Directory and associated platforms).

Duties will include: Helping to ensure services run smoothly by supporting deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of identity systems, responding proactively to issues.

The role will collaborate closely with technical colleagues, project teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions that enhance security, user experience, and operational efficiency.

Taking ownership of complex and escalated technical problems, driving robust resolution and continuous improvement.

In addition, you will contribute to a structured change management and release framework, ensuring changes are controlled, well-documented, and effectively communicated.

Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you will focus on the hands-on implementation and continuous improvement of identity solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and aligned with modern best practices.

Throughout the role, you will apply strong security and data protection principles, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards.

Contribute to high-quality documentation, knowledge sharing, and skills transfer within the team, helping to build capability and reduce long-term dependency risk.

Specification

  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Experience within a similar role within a medium to large organisation
  • Experience of providing technical solutions which are focused on business outcomes and customer requirements
  • Specialist knowledge of IDAM and Identity Lifecycles
  • Specialist knowledge of Entra ID and AD administration, Power Shell and SQL scripting
  • Experience of authentication protocols and Cloud Applications (Azure)
  • In depth technical knowledge of product and service provision to always ensure quality and value drive support.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and build positive working relationships
  • Practical knowledge of RBAC, PIM and permission management
  • Familiarity with agile working practices
  • Experience with Office365 and AWS
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops
  • ITIL Foundation and ITIL V4 Intermediate or ITIL 4 Specialist Module Please note that these positions do require a good level of industry technical expertise and knowledge in the IDAM and Cloud Services arena’s.
