The Recipe (About the Role)

We’re looking for a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer based at our Corby site to join our inclusive engineering team and play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly. You’ll be involved in reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives, supported by a knowledgeable team that values collaboration, learning, and development. This is a role where you can grow your confidence, build technical expertise, and make a meaningful contribution across multiple facilities.

- Provide engineering guidance to production, resolving breakdowns and assisting with the resolution of priority engineering issues as required.
- Help and deliver planned maintenance to sustain the reliability and availability of our assets.
- To work alone and as part of a team with minimal guidance and be able to make quick and effective judgements on actions needed to resolve problems and be capable of correctly prioritising the assistance required.
- Work to company practices, procedures and rules to ensure health & safety, food safety and legal compliance are upheld at all times.
- Assist external contractors providing help for reactive activities, to ensure company practices, procedures and rules are understood and adhered to.
- To have familiarity and the knowledge of how to work on a wide variety of engineering assets.
- Effectively diagnose and repair plant equipment to component level (excluding high voltage and gas).
- Report and escalate all equipment issues as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve the reliability of assets and engineering working processes.
- Assist Improvement projects, identifying engineering root causes and complete CI project work actions.
- Complete effective handover to the oncoming team (peer to peer and line manager).
- Provide training and guidance to engineers, operators and apprentices. Be a mentor for the development of engineers and apprentices and ensure they can work safely.
The Ingredients (What we need from you)
Key Skills
- Demonstrable mechanical and electrical knowledge through training and experience.
- Engineering Qualification Level 3 NVQ or above
- Good solution-finding experience.
- IT experience to include the use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
Desirable Skills
- Engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment. PLC experience preferred.
