This position is a fantastic fit for our dedication to achieving Zero Accidents and Zero Environmental Harm (Goal Zero) by supporting daily EHS activities, ensuring compliance, and taking part in some exciting improvement projects.

We are looking for a person with an interest in Environment, Health and Safety or Sustainability, working with an impressive team while working to attain a Level 3 SHE Technician Apprenticeship with our training partner the University of Lincoln.

The Recipe (About the Role)

  • Health, Safety and Environment Support
    • Assist with safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
    • Support risk assessments and safe work systems.
    • Record and analyse safety data, including near misses and corrective actions.
    • Support environmental initiatives for waste reduction, recycling, and energy efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Maintain EHS records in the company management system (e.g., Intelex).
  • EHS Management Systems and Compliance
    • Work on the implementation of EHS management systems aligned with Weetabix Standards.
    • Assist in preparing for audits by gathering necessary documentation.
    • Engage in policy and risk control reviews to suggest improvements.
  • Training, Communication and Engagement
    • Contribute to safety communications and awareness campaigns.
    • Promote a proactive safety culture across departments.
    • Participate in EHS meetings and site improvement efforts.
    • Assist in learning activities and share best practices.
  • Learning and Development
    • Fulfil Level 3 SHE Technician Apprenticeship requirements.
    • Participate in mentoring, coaching, and job shadowing.
    • Take ownership of personal learning and performance.

The Ingredients (What we need from you)

  • Key Know How
    • GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above in English, Mathematics and Science.
    • Demonstrated interest in environment, health and safety or sustainability.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
    • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Willingness to learn and develop within a manufacturing environment.
  • Desirable Skills
    • A Levels or a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies).
    • Previous work experience in manufacturing, engineering or food production.
    • Awareness of EHS legislation or management systems (e.g. ISO 45001 / ISO 14001).
