Wedlake Bell are recruiting an HR Administrator to join our close-knit HR team. This is a full‑time, permanent role with the expectation of four days office attendance per week. The HR team comprises 11 professionals and plays a key role in supporting the firm and our people. The team is responsible for delivering a high‑quality HR service across the firm, supporting colleagues and teams throughout the employee lifecycle, and helping to foster a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing culture.
As HR Administrator, you will provide efficient and accurate administrative support to the HR team as well as play an active role in developing and improving administrative processes and procedures within the team. Reporting to the Head of HR and working closely with all team members, the role is generalist and broad in scope with plenty of opportunity to take on more responsibility and grow in the role.

Key Responsibilities:
- Joiners and Leavers
- Assisting the team with organising induction programmes for all new joiners
- Drafting offer of employment and leaving arrangements letters with the supervision of the HR Business Partner
- Requesting and providing references
- Conducting the relevant compliance related checks (e.g. right to work/DBS etc.)
- Managing and responding to all speculative recruitment enquiries
- Diarising start and leave dates, probation periods, etc.
- Ensuring that line managers meet probation deadlines
- Assisting the Payroll & Benefit Specialist with all benefit administration
- Inputting payroll data into the HR system
- Assisting with payroll reports
- Updating the HR system with new or amended employee details
- Generating HR system reports
- Assisting with benchmarking and reviewing remuneration and benefits when needed
- Arranging interviews and diarising appointments
- Assisting with typing and amending job descriptions
- Liaising with relevant departments to assist with advertising live roles
- Assisting with the upkeep of the recruitment system (Teamtailor)
- Managing the recruitment inbox and ensuring it is checked on a regular basis
- Working with the team to review current initiatives and assist with any related project work or research tasks
- Assisting with Diversity Committee meetings including taking minutes for meetings
- Assisting with the organisation of the firm’s monthly wellbeing initiatives and communications
- Managing the HR inbox as well as the HR system inbox and ensuring both are checked on a regular basis
- Continuously reviewing and developing HR administration to ensure best practice and up‑to‑date information, processes and procedures
- Ensuring the team is GDPR compliant
- Maintaining up‑to‑date diary entries for the HR team
- Providing HR data reports as and when required
- Ensuring all scanned documentation is maintained and correctly filed online for access by the HR team
- Providing basic advice to staff on the firm’s benefits, policies and procedures
- Playing an active role and contributing new ideas and suggestions for the development of the HR team generally
- Providing support with any HR projects or ad hoc tasks as required
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous HR administration experience, within a law firm or professional services firm, would be advantageous but not essential
- Professional and commercial approach to HR, with the ability to think creatively and offer proactive solutions and ideas
- Positive “can do” attitude with flexibility to take on other relevant matters as and when to assist the HR team
- Excellent communication skills – must be able to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of seniority and on both an internal and external basis
- Able to work well under pressure and in keeping with deadlines
- Must have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong IT capabilities, including a good understanding of modern office software (in particular the Office 365 suite)
