An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Accountant to join our busy finance team at Head Office in Willenhall. Wedge Group Galvanizing is a successful family‑owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 15 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanizing process. What’s the role?

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Trainee Accountant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their accounting career who is eager to develop professionally while gaining hands‑on experience. We are committed to supporting your growth and will provide full study support for CIMA or ACCA qualifications, helping you build a strong foundation for a long‑term career in finance.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Supporting the financial accounting with Fixed Assets.
  • Processing journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Reconciliations of Capex Projects.
  • Supporting audit preparation and compliance activities.
  • Working closely with the wider finance team on ad hoc projects.
  • Ensuring financial data is accurate and maintained in line with company procedures.

Who would suit this role?

This role would suit a recent graduate (holding a degree in a related subject such as finance or accountancy), an AAT‑qualified candidate, or someone currently studying towards an accounting qualification who is looking to develop a successful career in finance. The ideal candidate will be keen to continue their professional studies through CIMA or ACCA, with study support provided to achieving qualification. The candidate will be highly numerate, organised, and detail‑oriented, with strong communication and Excel skills. Being proactive, eager to learn, and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team is essential.

What are the hours?

Monday to Friday inclusive, working 36.25 hours per week between 09:00 – 17:00.
