About us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Services Representative to join our busy team at Scottish Galvanizers Ltd, based in Glasgow, G41 1RR. We are part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, a successful family-owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 14 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanizing process.

What’s the role?

As a Technical Services Representative you will help to deliver our Company’s mission of being the ‘UK’s Galvanizer of choice’ through championing high-quality products and service to all our customers. Using corrective actions, 5 why and 8D techniques you will evaluate quality performance.

Main duties include:

  • Performing quality compliance audits on the finished product, reporting and analysing the data.
  • Manage the site quality management system, as part of the organization’s ISO 9001 accreditation.
  • Manage the chemical and metallurgical process line.
  • Monitor and manage the complaints system, looking for opportunities to improve quality and service.
  • Champion the use of structured problem solving (e.g., corrective action system, 5 Why, 8D).
  • Provide technical support and guidance.
  • Maintain and calibrate measuring equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage the site environmental management system as the organization achieves ISO 14001 accreditation.

Who would suit this role?

You will be analytical and able to continuously improve processes to provide the best quality.

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.

Knowledge of the galvanizing process, ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 is advantageous but not essential.

  • A permanent 40-hour contract, with an annual salary of up to £35,000.00 depending on experience.

Hours

Working Monday to Friday – working hours to be agreed with your line manager (usually worked in 8-hour slots at some point between 07:00 and 18:00).
