An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our busy team at Scottish Galvanizers Ltd based in Glasgow, G41 1RR. We are part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, a successful family-owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 14 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanizing process.

What’s the role?

As an HGV Class 1 Driver you will help to deliver our Company’s mission being the ‘UK’s Galvanizer of choice’ through being an integral part of a fleet that delivers our high-quality products to our customers.

Main responsibilities include:
• Putting safety first – Ensuring full compliance with all statutory requirements and driving legislation, including company procedures, tachograph monitoring, driving, and road regulations.
• Collecting and delivering steelwork.
• Maintaining good working relationships with customers.
• Complete accurate delivery records and relevant paperwork.
• Responsible for carrying out vehicle inspections.

Who would suit this role?

This role would suit someone who is organised, self-motivated, a team-player, conscientious and has a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Must be able to follow instructions and is customer focused.

Good geographical knowledge and ICT skills would be beneficial.

Holding a clean full Category C+E licence and possessing a digital tachograph card with a driver CPC is essential.

Hours?

Contracted 40 hours per week with the potential for paid overtime during busy periods. Overtime will be paid out at 1.5 times hourly rate of pay.
Hours of work are flexible to meet the customer service levels, but starting times are normally between 21:00 and 22:00.
