An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join our busy team at South West Galvanizers in Crediton. We are part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, a successful family-owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 14 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanizing process. What’s the role?

As a Maintenance Engineer within the current maintenance team, you will help to deliver our Company’s mission being the ‘UK’s Galvanizer of choice’ through ensuring the safe and efficient working of plant and equipment at our South West Galvanizers site. Main responsibilities include:

  • Putting Safety First – Operating safe working practices within the work environment.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance of equipment and facilities.
  • Undertake any maintenance operations at site (mechanical and electrical).
  • Assure information required for the Engineering Management System is inputted correctly.
  • Conducting electrical diagnostic and fault-finding activities.
  • Responding to equipment breakdowns and resolving related issues.
  • Providing on-call cover on a rotational basis.

Who would suit this role?

Candidates for this role should have experience within an engineering role. They will preferably hold electrical installation and testing qualifications; however electrical maintenance qualifications will be considered. This role would suit someone who is organised, self-motivated, a team-player, conscientious and has a ‘can-do’ attitude. Must be capable of good communication and cooperation with colleagues and other stakeholders. Any previous experience working with overhead cranes/hoists and/or forklift trucks would be beneficial.

  • A permanent 40-hour contract, with gross pay of £33,000 – £35,000 per annum.

Hours?

40 hours per week worked during opening hours between 06:00 and 22:00 Monday – Friday. 1 in 3 weeks on call for out of hours cover. 1 Saturday per month 8 hours paid overtime.
