An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our busy team at Edward Howell Galvanizers Ltd based in Wednesfield, West Midlands, WV13. We are part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, a successful family‑owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 14 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanising process. What’s the role?
As a Class 1 HGV Driver you will help to deliver our Company’s vision being ‘The Galvaniser of choice’ through being an integral part of a fleet that delivers our high‑quality products to our customers.
Main responsibilities
- Putting safety first – Ensuring full compliance with all statutory requirements and driving legislation, including company procedures, tachograph monitoring, driving, and road regulations.
- Collecting and delivering steelwork.
- Maintaining good working relationships with customers.
- Complete accurate delivery records and relevant paperwork.
- Responsible for carrying out vehicle inspections.
Who would suit this role?
- You must demonstrate excellent customer service in your approach to work.
- Be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- Have good geographical area knowledge.
- Hold a full and Cat C+E clean licence (minor points may be considered).
- Possess a digital tachograph card and full driver CPC.
- Have a minimum of 1 year’s HGV driving experience.

- A permanent 40‑hour contract, with gross pay of £16.71 per hour/ £668.40 per week.

Hours
Contracted 40 hours per week with potential for paid overtime during busy periods. Hours of work are flexible to meet the customer service levels but starting times are normally between 06.30 and 07.00am.
