The Brand

This opportunity is with a major UK retailer whose Digital function is expanding significantly beyond its existing website and app, investing in native mobile as a genuine strategic priority. It's a fast-paced, innovative, hybrid-working environment, where the Digital team is described as growing and dynamic β€” the kind of setting where a designer can genuinely shape how a large-scale consumer app evolves, rather than just maintaining what's already there.

The Role

This is a UX designer role focused specifically on native mobile applications, sitting within the Digital team. The person in this role owns end-to-end UX and UI design for the native app across both iOS and Android, taking responsibility for complex app journeys, flows, and interaction models while balancing customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints. Beyond individual screens, they own and evolve the app's components and patterns within the design system, working in Figma at an advanced level, and use product data, analytics, and experimentation results to validate and iterate their design decisions post-launch. They act as a close design partner to Product, Engineering, and Data teams, managing senior stakeholders and clearly articulating design trade-offs, while also mentoring junior designers and championing accessibility and inclusive design across the app experience.

The Person

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience as a Product/UX Designer, ideally within a B2C context, with a genuine, proven track record designing and shipping native iOS and Android applications at scale β€” this is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have, and distinguishes this role from general web or UX design experience. They should have expert-level Figma proficiency, including advanced Auto Layout, prototyping, and component/variant systems, alongside a deep understanding of mobile UX patterns, interaction design, and accessibility standards. A strong data-led design mindset is essential, as is comfort working across multiple teams and complex stakeholder environments, with excellent communication and influencing skills. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, or React is a plus, and the ideal candidate will bring a portfolio that clearly demonstrates high-quality execution, scale, and measurable commercial or user impact.
