Rural Business Adviser - Farm Consultancy

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Suffolk

Our client, an independent rural professional practice in East Anglia, is seeking an experienced Rural Business Adviser to join their growing farm business consultancy team. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with farmers and landowners, providing practical commercial advice that supports long-term profitability and resilience.

Position Overview

You will provide strategic business and financial advice to a diverse portfolio of agricultural clients. Working within a collaborative team, you'll build trusted relationships and deliver practical solutions across farm performance, financial planning, diversification and succession planning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial and strategic advice to farming businesses
  • Prepare farm budgets, cashflows and financial forecasts
  • Undertake whole-farm and enterprise-level financial analysis
  • Support clients with business and succession planning
  • Identify opportunities to improve farm profitability
  • Advise on investment decisions and diversification opportunities
  • Produce clear, commercially focused reports and recommendations
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
  • Keep updated on agricultural markets, policy and schemes
  • Develop new business opportunities for the consultancy

Requirements

  • Previous experience in agricultural consultancy, farm business management, accountancy or agricultural finance
  • Strong understanding of farm accounts, budgets and financial analysis
  • Excellent commercial awareness and ability to identify improvement opportunities
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence to work independently with farmers and landowners
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to interpret financial information and provide clear advice
  • Strong organisational and report-writing skills
  • Genuine interest in agriculture and the farming industry
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel
