Quantity Surveyor in Slough

ROLE OVERVIEW

Webster Hart is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with approximately 3 to 5 years’ experience to support the delivery of cost consultancy, contract administration and project management services across a range of high-quality residential projects.

Based in our Parsons Green office, the role would suit someone who is confident working with consultants, contractors and clients, enjoys working with detail, and is keen to continue developing within a collaborative, client-focused environment.

• Experience of high-end residential projects within the UK and EU would be an advantage
• ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Subject to the agreed scope of services, duties include but are not limited to:
• Support the delivery of cost consultancy, contract administration and project management services throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility through to completion.
• Prepare and maintain cost plans, budgets, estimates and financial reports, ensuring the information is accurate, clear and commercially useful.
• Assist with procurement, tender analysis, contract documentation and contractor recommendations.
• Administer building contracts under the supervision of senior team members, including issuing instructions, reviewing variations and maintaining appropriate records.
• Prepare and issue payment notices, payment certificates, invoices and related financial documentation in line with Webster Hart procedures.
• Monitor project budgets, cash flow and cost movements, identifying risks, variances and potential savings where appropriate.
• Attend site, design team and client meetings, preparing agendas, minutes and action trackers as required.
• Carry out regular site visits and inspections to review progress, quality, programme and compliance, and maintain accurate photographic records of ongoing works.
• Review project programmes and flag potential delays, sequencing issues or commercial risks to the wider project team.
• Liaise professionally with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams to ensure smooth project coordination and clear communication.
• Work closely with senior Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, seeking guidance where needed and taking ownership of assigned workstreams.
• Collaborate with the Property Management team where cross-support is required.
• Undertake ad hoc administrative and professional tasks to support the wider team and the successful delivery of projects.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• Approximately 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying, cost consultancy, or closely related construction role.
• Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience of working on residential projects; high-end residential experience would be an advantage.
• Good understanding of construction processes, procurement routes, building contracts, contract administration and project programming.
• Strong numerical, analytical and written skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Confident preparing cost reports, payment documentation, variation assessments and other project financial information.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise the workload and manage competing deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative, proactive and client-focused approach.
• Calm, professional and confident demeanour, suitable for client-facing roles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and in relevant cost management or project software.
• Motivated, reliable and keen to continue developing in the Quantity Surveying and Project Management disciplines.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• REGULATORY AND COMPETENCY

This role requires demonstrable knowledge of and practical application of the UK’s evolving regulatory framework for the built environment, particularly the Building Safety Act 2022 and its associated secondary legislation.

The postholder should work in line with the core and contextual competency requirements set out in BS 8670-1:2024, ensuring that safety, governance and risk management are considered throughout the project lifecycle.

The postholder will be expected to demonstrate competence, maintain compliance and support a culture of professional responsibility in line with statutory duties and recognised industry standards.
