Boyes Design is a bespoke joinery and furniture studio based in Nottingham, specialising in high-quality cabinetry and made-to-measure interiors. We work on carefully designed, high-end residential and commercial projects and are now looking for an Apprentice Bench Joiner to join our workshop team.
As an Apprentice Furniture Maker, you will:
- Learn how to make all types of bespoke furniture, cabinetry, and interior joinery items.
- Be required to work to the very highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
- Assist in the manufacture of bespoke joinery and cabinetry.
- Learn to read and understand technical drawings and workshop plans.
- Support the safe use of woodworking machinery and hand tools.
- Help with cutting, shaping, assembling, and sanding components.
- Assist with preparation of work for finishing and installation.
- Support site installations when required, including loading and unloading.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, organisation, and tool care.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Support the wider workshop team as required.
Comprehensive Furniture Manufacturing Training:
During your Standard Level 2 Furniture Manufacturing apprenticeship programme, you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employers within the workplace and at WEBS Training in Nottingham on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks. You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally. Training will be provided in all areas of Furniture Manufacturing to ensure you can create practical and bespoke furniture using both traditional and modern techniques to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose products.
If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.
Career Progression and Opportunities:
This role offers opportunities to advance to an Advanced apprenticeship at Level 3, along with increased responsibilities.
Desired Skills and Personal Qualities:
- 18+ due to insurance reasons.
- A driving licence is beneficial but not essential at this stage.
- Genuine interest in joinery, woodworking or furniture making.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions.
- Practical and hands-on, with good attention to detail.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Commitment to completing an apprenticeship and developing skills over time.
Qualifications:
- GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade C/4) - desirable.
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grade C/4) - desirable.
Pay: £8 PER HOUR
Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8am - 4.30pm.
