Edison and Day specialise in soft furnishings and bespoke upholstered furniture. We are looking for an Apprentice upholsterer to join the team. Do you want to learn how to produce bespoke upholstered furniture and become a skilled trades person? At Edison & Day, we manufacture and supply contract furniture and soft furnishings for care groups and commercial environments across the UK. Our service is built around speed, reliability and practical support, helping clients deliver consistent, high-quality spaces across individual homes, refurbishments, new builds and multi-site rollouts.

We combine UK manufacturing and hands-on account management to keep projects moving. From product selection and space planning through to delivery, installation and aftercare, our team works closely with clients to make the process simple, responsive and well controlled.

Description of what the apprentice will do in their role:

  • Learn how to upholster bespoke items of contemporary furniture
  • Learn upholstery techniques, which covers the use of traditional skills, combined with the latest techniques used in contemporary upholstery manufacturing
  • Learn how to sew upholstery components
  • Learn how to hand cut fabric
  • Learn how to pattern match fabric
  • Learn how to work with different materials such as leather and cottons
  • Learn a practical trade within a growing industry
  • Become a valued member of a friendly team working in a modern manufacturer

Comprehensive Modern Upholstery Training:

During your Standard Level 2 upholstery apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at WEBS Training in Nottingham on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks. You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.

Training will be provided in all areas of upholstery to ensure you can create practical and bespoke furniture using both traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose products.

If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.

Career Progression and Opportunities:

This role offers opportunities to advance to an Advanced Upholsterer at Level 3, along with increased responsibilities.
