About The Apprenticeship
This is a Level 2 Floorlaying Apprenticeship. It develops the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to fit different types of flooring to high quality and safety standards. Training will be delivered by Webs Training and FITA, a specialist provider for the industry.
The Role
As a Floorlaying Apprentice at Saint Flooring Ltd you will work alongside experienced craftspeople, gradually taking on more responsibility as you gain skills and confidence. Your duties will include:
- Assist with preparing subfloors, including cleaning, levelling, and applying adhesives.
- Learn to measure, cut, and fit flooring materials such as carpets, vinyl, and rubber.
- Install underlays, trims, and finishes to achieve a high-quality result.
- Work safely with hand tools and cutting equipment.
- Follow site safety regulations and maintain a clean workspace.
- Develop knowledge of different flooring materials and their applications.
- Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Attend college/training sessions as required to complete your apprenticeship standard.
What You’ll Learn
- Knowledge of different flooring types and fittings.
- Skills in measuring, marking out, cutting, fitting, and prepping.
- Understanding of different fitting techniques, quality standards, and health & safety.
- Behaviours such as attention to detail, teamwork, reliability, and pride in your work.
Training and Support
- The apprenticeship typically lasts around 24 months plus preparation for End-Point Assessment.
- Training is delivered both on the job at Saint Flooring Ltd and at FITA in Loughborough on block-release.
- You will be supported and mentored by experienced floorlayer and assessed regularly by Webs Training.
Who We’re Looking For
- A genuine interest in floorlaying and being in a trade.
- Good manual dexterity and a responsible approach to health and safety.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback and develop practical and technical skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Basic literacy and numeracy (GCSEs or equivalent, or willingness to work towards them if 18 and don\’t already have them).
Progression
On successful completion of the apprenticeship you may progress to more advanced roles or positions within Saint Flooring Ltd or the wider industry.
Pay
£7.55 per hour may increase depending on performance.
