Preston Grove Medical Centre, a well-loved and established medical practice, is located in the busy town of Yeovil on the Somerset/Dorset border.

Shift Pattern

  • Tuesday: 08:00 – 12:00, 13:00 – 17:00
  • Wednesday: 14:00 – 18:30
  • Friday: 08:30 – 12:30, 13:30 – 18:30

Working 21.5 hours per week on a permanent, part‑time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for patients, doctors, nurses and colleagues.
  • Field inbound calls from patients, relatives and medical staff; respond to in‑person queries.
  • Register patients and book appointments.
  • Direct calls to the right location, monitor the reception area, inform patients of delays and handle complaints in a professional manner, escalating as necessary.
  • Update computer records using online and clinical systems.
  • Ensure relevant information is available to GPs.
  • Manage incoming post.
  • Maintain a welcoming and orderly reception area.
  • Provide patients with information and test results.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with the general public.
  • A caring and positive approach to queries.
  • Sensitive communication skills, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Basic keyboard skills.
  • Organised approach.
  • At least GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4–9 (C–A*) in English and Maths.
