Job title\\nSports Assistant\\n\\nDepartment\\nSports Development & Recreation\\n\\nSalary\\nStarting from £24,500 + 10% shift allowance\\n\\nPlease note the annual salary quoted is inclusive of a market supplement to ensure the annual pay rate aligns with our commitment as a voluntary living wage employer.\\n\\nClosing date\\nThursday 24 July 2025\\n\\nAs a Sports Assistant, you will play a vital role within our team, carrying out the day-to-day front of house operation of all Sports facilities and associated areas, so that we can provide indoor and outdoor activities and events for students, university staff, the local community and high-performance athletes.\\n\\nThis is a great position to learn and develop basic skills within a sporting environment where you will get to work alongside high-performance athletes, many of whom compete in the Summer and Winter Olympics.\\n\\nAbout the role\\n\\nYour main responsibilities will consist of\\n\\n- lifeguarding\\n- setting up indoor and outdoor activities\\n- setting up events\\n- assisting with general enquiries from customers\\n- responding to ad hoc requests for support\\n\\nYou will also be involved in patrolling facilities, security, cleanliness, health and safety and emergency procedures.\\n\\nAbout us\\n\\nThe Department of Sports Development and Recreation at the University of Bath manages and organises a range of activities under the University’s sports brand – Team Bath. The Department aspires to create a world leading multi-sport environment providing activities, services and facilities for students, university staff, the local community and high-performance athletes.\\n\\nIn addition, we are recognised by UK Sport as one of only six Elite Training Centres, providing the training base for around 250 international level athletes. \\n\\nYou will work an average of 36.5 hours per week in a shift rota with the other Sports Assistants which will include early mornings, evenings and weekends covering all hours of operation between 05:45 and 22:30 weekdays and 07:30 to 19:30 weekends. \\n\\nDue to the working hours and pattern of this role, this role is only suitable for those aged 18 years and over.\\n\\nPart of this role involves lifeguarding duties and therefore you will need to have a lifeguarding (NPLQ) qualification.
