Foster Carers Northern Ireland About Us Action for Children is a charity dedicated to the welfare of children and young people across the UK. Were here to support and protect, providing practical help and emotional support where we are needed. We aim to help as soon as possible, spotting problems and taking action early, supporting children to grow up healthy and happy. We advocate, listening to what children say and campaigning on their behalf. In Northern Ireland, we provide more than 20 services to help children and young people thrive. In the last year alone, weve reached nearly 16,000 children, young people and their families, ensuring they dont reach crisis point through early help and support. We are now looking for Foster Carers across Northern Ireland to support children and young people who need homes and support. From 24/7 personalised support and a dedicated social worker to free, tailored training, well be by your side every step of your fostering journey, alongside providing a generous weekly fee and allowance while a young person is in your care. As a Foster Carer, you will provide a safe, loving and nurturing home for a child or young person who needs your support. You will give the young person in your care your time, attention and affection, providing the stability and encouragement they need while responding to their individual needs. Throughout your fostering journey, you will undertake ongoing training to develop your skills and knowledge, supported by regular supervision sessions with your dedicated social worker to ensure you feel confident and equipped in your role. About You To be considered as a Foster Carer, you will need: - To be over 21 - To be a permanent UK resident with the right to work in the UK - A spare room in your home - To be a great listener - A warm, optimistic and realistic approach - A caring and passionate nature To foster, you don't need to be perfect - and we don't expect you to be. You also dont need to have fostered before, own your home or have children of your own. Our Foster Carers can be single, married or somewhere in between, homeowners or tenants, with children, without children or with pets. We welcome people from all ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds, people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Theres zero pressure and zero commitment when you first explore fostering with us. Fostering payments are made up of a fee and an allowance and apply when you have a young person in your care. The fee recognises the time, training and commitment you put into caring for a young person, while the allowance helps cover their day-to-day living costs. We can also provide additional support for holidays, birthdays and other special circumstances. Other organisations may call this role Foster Parent, Foster Family, Foster Caregiver, Foster Care Provider, Foster Home Provider, or Foster Care Family.
