We’re looking for a Natural Health Service Coordinator to join our friendly Access and Engagement Team in a partnership project with the Nidderdale National Landscape team. In this role, you’ll design and deliver a 10‑week social prescribing programme that helps people build confidence, improve wellbeing and reconnect with nature through walking and outdoor activity. This post is part of the wider Natural Health Service for North Yorkshire project, working alongside protected landscape partners across the county. You will be employed by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and will also work as part of the Nidderdale National Landscape team for part of the role. Project delivery will be split between the two areas, with half taking place in the Yorkshire Dales and half in Nidderdale, where you will have a key day‑to‑day contact.
Key Responsibilities
- Co‑design and deliver structured 10‑week green social prescribing programmes across North Yorkshire, particularly in Skipton, Harrogate and surrounding rural areas.
- Deliver safe, inclusive and accessible activities that support people with a range of needs, including those experiencing mental health challenges, long‑term conditions and social isolation.
- Build and maintain strong referral pathways with health, social care and voluntary sector partners.
- Recruit, support and supervise volunteers involved in programme delivery.
- Plan and organise activities, including risk assessments, logistics and communication with participants and partners.
- Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes, maintaining accurate records and contributing to reporting requirements.
- Represent the project through meetings, networks and partnership forums.
- Manage allocated budgets and contribute to funding and reporting requirements.
About You
You’ll bring experience of delivering outdoor group activities that support wellbeing, along with a good understanding of people facing barriers such as poor health, low activity levels or social isolation. You’ll also have:
- Strong awareness of health and safety in outdoor settings.
- Experience supporting volunteers.
- Confidence working with a wide range of people, including vulnerable adults, and an understanding of safeguarding principles.
- Ability to build relationships with health, social care and community partners.
- Good organisational skills and flexibility to work across locations.
Requirements
- Post subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Access to a car or means of mobility support to meet travel demands of the post; if driving, must have a current valid driving licence and appropriate business insurance.
Benefits
- Generous leave: starting at 26 days plus bank holidays (pro rata).
- Flexible working arrangements: including a flexi‑time scheme.
- Excellent pension: Local Government Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.
- Wellbeing support: subsidised healthcare scheme, cycle to work scheme and staff discounts.
- Free parking in Authority car parks.
