Malham and Grassington are remarkable places to spend your working day. We now have an opportunity for an Information Adviser to join our small and friendly teams at Malham and Grassington. We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales.

The Role
You will provide high quality information to visitors and residents, face to face and through email and telephone enquiries. This includes answering questions about the National Park, suggesting local walks and highlighting places of interest. Our Visitor Centres also sell a range of products, so you will support retail tasks such as taking payments, responding to customer queries and keeping stock replenished. You will also carry out routine administrative tasks using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Other duties include giving advice to visitors outside the Centre, helping with litter picking, and offering assistance in the car park when required. Health and Safety and First Aid training will be provided and is a requirement of the role, along with other relevant training courses. You will be based at both Malham and Grassington National Park Visitor Centres, with occasional work at other Centres. The rota includes around two weekends in every four plus some bank holidays. Rotas are reviewed each January and may change to meet operational needs.
Annualised Hours of Work
- 654 contracted hours across the year (April to March)
- Most hours worked between April and October (the main season), with fewer between November and March
- Weekends and bank holidays form part of the rota
About You
You will have experience of delivering excellent customer service and a good understanding of local opportunities for recreation and enjoyment. This will allow you to confidently share information with visitors about walks, attractions and the surrounding area. Ideally you will also have good IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office, and experience of working in a retail setting. We’re proud to be a Disability Confident employer.
