Teacher of Horticulture and Project Worker in Swaffham

Location: Tumbler Hill, Swaffham/Discovery Garden, Kings Lynn

Hours: 22.5 hours (Part-time) – Days and times to be agreed

Contract: Permanent

As our Teacher of Horticulture and Project Worker, you'll use the power of gardening and outdoor learning to help adults build confidence, gain qualifications, improve wellbeing and develop valuable life and employability skills. Based on our allotment in Swaffham, you'll create inspiring learning experiences that enable people from a wide range of backgrounds to grow, achieve and reach their potential.

Every day will be different. One day you could be delivering practical horticultural training in the garden, the next supporting learners to achieve accredited qualifications, coordinating volunteers, or helping participants develop the confidence and skills needed to take their next steps towards education, employment or greater independence. This is a unique opportunity to combine your horticultural expertise with teaching, mentoring and community development, while making a lasting difference to people's lives and helping create vibrant, inclusive spaces where individuals and communities can flourish.

We are looking for someone who can think creatively, happy to work in our rustic environments in all weathers. There will also be a need to cover teaching and our site in Kings Lynn when required.

Main Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging horticultural skills and diploma courses.
• Deliver practical and classroom-based learning sessions at the ESCAPE Allotment in Swaffham and Discovery Garden in King's Lynn.
• Monitor learner progress, provide feedback and support learners to achieve their goals.
• Promote inclusive learning practices and positive learner outcomes.
• Encourage participation in gardening activities and learning opportunities.
• Support confidence building, wellbeing and social interaction.
• Coordinate Project Activities.
• Organise activities that promote wellbeing, engagement and social inclusion.
• Support the day-to-day running of project activities across both sites.
• Help maintain project sites to support learning and participation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding and organisational policies.

Main Requirements:

• Relevant horticultural qualification at Level 2 or above.
• Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• Experience supporting individuals with diverse learning and support needs.
• Sound knowledge of horticultural practices and garden maintenance.
• Understanding of assessment and quality assurance processes.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Desirable Requirements:

• Experience teaching or training adults.
• Experience working within community learning, wellbeing or social inclusion projects.
• Experience supporting and supervising volunteers.
