The Medscape Network, a division of WebMD, is a leading provider of health information services to physicians and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) across the globe. Through our family of online tools and mobile applications, we make it easier for physicians and other HCPs to access top clinical decision support sources, stay abreast of the latest science and clinical information, learn about new treatment options, and earn continuing medical education credits.
The Associate Editor contributes to the publication process for developing and maintaining guideline content for HCPs, with attention to content accuracy, relevance, prioritization, resourcing, and process improvement.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the publication process for assigned content, including fact-checking, proofreading, and formatting to ensure quality standards.
- Help maintain project tracking systems and assist Editors with implementing content plans to meet delivery timelines.
- Edit and prepare content including summarising guidelines, reviewing for accuracy and consistency, fact-checking and restructuring articles, incorporating corrections, and securing appropriate approvals while maintaining editorial standards.
- Assist with the implementation of editorial AI solutions by providing user feedback and participating in testing.
- Support the identification of opportunities to integrate guidelineārelated content across platforms and optimise content delivery.
- Maintain communication with team members and provide regular updates on assigned tasks and potential challenges.
- Research and identify potential topics, guidelines for summarisation, and suitable authors to support content planning.
- Assist in managing author relationships, including coordinating permissions, contracts, and payment processes.
- Help compile data on content performance and prepare regular reports to inform editorial decisions.
- Manage editorial workflows in project management systems to reflect various stages of content development.
- Support crossāfunctional collaboration by preparing materials for meetings and following up on action items.
- Coordinate administrative aspects of the editorial process including file organisation and documentation.
- Proactively identify suitable guidance to summarise and upcoming new or updated guidelines.
- Prepare content for publication in content management systems, ensuring proper metadata application.
- Evaluate AIāgenerated or AIāassisted content for accuracy, bias, and adherence to evidenceābased best practices.
- Demonstrate excellence in organizational citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, or similar emphasis, professional clinical degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and across teams.
- Ability to follow editorial policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in productivity and collaboration tools (i.e. Google Workspace).
- 2+ years editorial experience in medical or scientific publishing, with excellent editorial judgement and attention to detail.
- Experience with content management systems.
- Understanding of clinical content and medical terminology.
- Experience with digital publishing platforms.
- Experience with AI tools and technologies, and understanding of ethical use of AI.
