Webbs is an award‑winning garden centre retailer with four stores and a growing e‑commerce business. We operate premium garden centres, restaurants, and a range of quality gifts, homeware, furniture and clothing. We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our HR team. You will report to the Head of Human Resources and be responsible for the smooth running of all HR and benefits administration throughout the employee lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Resourcing: Manage the recruitment process by creating and posting vacancy adverts, assisting managers with shortlisting and interview arrangements, processing employment contracts, completing right‑to‑work checks, setting up colleague discount cards, adding new starters to the time & attendance and H&S e‑learning platforms, administering probation, managing temporary worker bookings, calculating annual leave, producing secondment letters and contract revisions, and processing resignations.
  • HR advice: Act as the first point of contact for HR and recruitment queries via person, email and telephone, attend disciplinary, grievance, appeal and other meetings as a notetaker, review and update policies, arrange training and provide support for TUPE, restructures and acquisitions.
  • Rewards & benefits: Prepare data for NMW, salary review, bonus and gender pay reporting, administer private medical health insurance, group income protection and life assurance schemes, organise long‑service award gifts and celebrations, and contribute to colleague event planning including the annual awards ceremony.
  • Other duties: Coordinate the colleague survey, run feedback reports, set up interim pulse surveys, produce monthly HR metrics for Board Report, support community, environment and wellbeing activities, contribute to ad‑hoc HR projects and people plans, book delegates onto training courses, manage training agreements, maintain electronic HR data systems ensuring GDPR compliance, administer maternity and paternity, coordinate work experience placements, payroll administration as required, and provide employee reference letters for mortgage, tenancy or citizenship applications.
Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ experience in an HR generalist role and CIPD Level 5 (or working towards). Excellent planning, organisational and detail‑oriented skills with a numerate, accurate approach. A positive people person who thrives on a high volume, varied, generalist HR workload and is interested in broader HR projects such as resourcing, learning & development, employee engagement, wellbeing and digitalisation.

Benefits

Working hours Monday to Friday, 39.5 hours per week with core hours 8:30 – 17:00 and a 4:30 pm finish on Fridays. The role is based at our Wychbold store with a requirement to live within a reasonable commuting distance; occasional travel to West Hagley, Cheltenham and Frilford stores may be needed. Salary starts from £30,000 depending on experience, and the package includes a generous Webbs discount, private medical insurance (upon completion of probation), company pension scheme and free parking.
