Garden Centre Team Member – Home & Lifestyle
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced retail sales advisor to join our Home & Lifestyle department at our Wychbold store.
Webbs is an award‑winning garden centre retailer with four stores and a growing ecommerce business.
Our stores are premium garden centres with exceptional indoor and outdoor horticulture departments, a range of quality gifts, homeware, furniture and clothing.
Our high‑quality restaurants offer freshly prepared, seasonally changing menus.
We’re an independent family business with a great team of people, a focus on fun and wellbeing, and have won several national awards in 2023 and 2024.
The role’s purpose is to deliver excellent customer service by providing knowledgeable advice and support to customers on our products.
You’ll drive sales, maintain product displays, and ensure the department is clean, well‑stocked, and welcoming.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable recommendations based on their needs.
- Meet or exceed individual and store sales targets through effective upselling, cross‑selling, and promotional initiatives.
- Process sales transactions efficiently, handling cash and card payments accurately, and process refunds or exchanges.
- Ensure shelves are well‑stocked and products are attractively displayed; assist with stock replenishment, inventory counts, and receiving deliveries.
- Set up and maintain engaging themed displays that reflect current promotions or seasonal events.
- Handle customer concerns or queries professionally, escalating issues to the manager when necessary.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues and management to support store operations and ensure a positive customer experience.
- Stay informed about our products, including new arrivals and bestsellers.
- Maintain a tidy, safe shopping environment, ensuring stock is stored appropriately and aisles are clear.
- The successful candidate will have
- Retail sales experience.
- Experience of promoting and demonstrating products, upselling, and meeting sales targets in a retail environment.
- Ability to merchandise and create inspirational, visually exciting displays.
- Great customer service skills and a naturally outgoing, positive personality.
- Experience of resolving customer queries.
Good IT and administration skills are also required because you'll be using our systems to process customer orders and keep our stock inventory updated.
The position is permanent, part‑time, working 7 hours per week primarily on Saturdays, which may also include weekdays, evenings and weekends.
The role is based at our store in Wychbold; candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
