As a well-loved and established medical practice, Preston Grove Medical Centre is situated in the busy town of Yeovil on the Somerset/Dorset border.
We are now looking for an Admin General Practice Assistant to join us on a permanent, part-time basis, working 30 hours per week. The shift pattern for this role is as follows:
- Monday 9am-6pm
- Tuesday 9am-5pm
- Thursday 9am-5pm
- Friday 9am-6pm
All shifts include an hour unpaid lunch break.

The Role
As an Admin General Practice Assistant, you will join a multi‑disciplinary team providing administrative support across our practice to free up GPs’ time. Specifically, you will manage a range of administration tasks, including:
- Handling correspondence
- Supporting referrals and appointments
- Maintaining accurate patient records
- General administration, reporting and follow‑up activity
About You
- Experience of clerical and administrative work
- A good understanding of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- A good understanding of patient or client confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen, discuss and inform clearly
- Superb organisational skills and meticulous with good time management skills
- Educated to GCSE level with passes in English and Maths
Experience of working in a GP practice or healthcare environment would be beneficial to your application.
