Here at Suma, we’ve been doing things a bit differently for over 40 years. Not only in our mission to supply everything vegetarian, ethical and sustainable, but also in how we run our successful business. Suma is a worker co‑operative; a business owned and run by nearly 200 members who work here. We’re a group of ordinary people who have built a business on principles of integrity and equality. Suma workers work together collectively to set the direction of the business - there are no shareholders and no traditional ‘bosses’. Everyone at Suma gets paid the same wage, takes personal and equal responsibility and does a range of different jobs each week.
Benefits
- Salary of £17.24 per hour (expenses as extra)
- Daily expense allowance – benchmark rates (10 hrs worked = £10)
- 40 hr contract as minimum
- 40 hrs a week basic = £35,859.20 (with the possibility of increased hours earning up to £44,824)
- Weekday rota (Monday to Friday - from 4am start)
- Generous holiday entitlement – 38 days for a full‑time worker

The Role
As an HGV Driver, you will provide a crucial link between Suma and our customers by delivering and collecting goods efficiently and safely, ensuring our customers receive excellent customer service. Beyond this, you will complete all necessary paperwork, identify any defects and provide feedback to your co‑ordinator. Following all procedures as set out by Suma and external authorities relating to safe and legal driving, you will also ensure that our vehicles remain roadworthy and safe, raising issues where required.

- Experience driving an HGV vehicle to conduct deliveries and collections
- Excellent communication skills
- A valid HGV licence
