About Us
Here at Suma, we’ve been doing things a bit differently for over 40 years. We supply over 7,000 vegetarian, natural, healthy and responsibly sourced products to businesses and communities across the UK and internationally. We have over 1,000 much-loved Suma brand foods, body care and home cleaning products. We are also the largest equal pay worker co-op in Europe, wholly owned and run by the workers.

The Role
As Head of IT, you will provide leadership and accountability for the effective operation of our IT function, ensuring teams are supported to perform at their best. Specifically, you will shape, deliver and embed IT objectives in line with our business plans, supporting the organisation’s strategic direction. Maintaining a clear overview of the IT landscape, you will provide guidance and direction to team members while monitoring activity to ensure priorities are delivered effectively. Acting as the key point of contact between the IT function and the board, you will communicate strategic objectives at a high level, whilst providing vital, practical support to your teams.
Additionally, you will:
- Create effective business plans for the IT area
- Create, develop and apply compliance-related policies
- Work as part of a cohesive leadership team
- Manage performance and support operations within the IT area
- Manage budgets and risk
About You
To be considered as the Head of IT, you will need:
- Experience of delivering change at an organisational level
- Strong leadership skills and experience
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing
- Motivational skills to get the most out of people and progress goals
- Excellent people management skills
- High level of problem-solving ability
- The ability to adapt to the unique environment of a worker-owned cooperative
