Operating with a strong sense of ownership and collaboration, our teams prioritize results while empowering each individual to do their best work.
About this role
Weaviate Cloud is how most developers first experience Weaviate. This role exists to make the Weaviate Cloud experience exceptional. As a Product Engineer, you won’t just build features handed to you, but dig into usage data, spot where users get stuck or drop off, and decide what to build next. You’ll own the full loop: instrument, ship, measure, and iterate. Your work will directly move metrics like product activation, time-to-value, and user-driven expansion.
You’ll also collaborate closely with our Web and Documentation teams to unify the end-to-end user experience across the Weaviate console, website, and documentation, to ensure that users move fluidly from discovery to adoption.
Who we’re looking for
You thrive at the intersection of engineering, UX, and growth. You care as much about why users behave a certain way as how to build the fix. You move quickly, learn from real usage data, and own outcomes, and not just output. You’re a strong communicator who’s comfortable working across teams, and you’re aligned with our company values. You bring a collaborative mindset and a bias toward shipping.
This is what you’ll be doing:
- Build and iterate on Weaviate Cloud products and product-led-growth (PLG) levers - including onboarding flows, in-product prompts, and expansion paths - with a focus on usability and feature adoption.
- Identify and resolve friction in the Weaviate Cloud user journey by instrumenting end-to-end flows, tracking key product metrics (activation, engagement, retention), and acting on data insights.
- Talk to our users directly to build firsthand empathy for the developer experience and surface insights that data alone won’t reveal.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Growth, Web, and Documentation teams to run experiments and create a cohesive user experience across all touchpoints.
- Contribute to frontend and backend systems that support scalable, high-quality product experiences, including code reviews, automated tests, and production issue resolution.
- Bring a strong sense of ownership - ship features, measure impact, and iterate quickly.
What we are looking for:
- 4–5 years of engineering experience (full-stack or frontend-leaning).
- Strong frontend skills (React, Next.js, TypesScript) with the ability to work across the stack; we use Golang in the backend.
- Solid engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping production-quality code.
- Strong product intuition - think about why something should be built, not just how.
- Proficiency in CI/CD practices, with experience deploying and operating continuously deployed applications in production.
Nice to have:
- Demonstrable experience working on product-led growth initiatives (e.g., onboarding flows, activation funnels, experimentation).
- Experience instrumenting applications (analytics, event tracking, funnels, etc.) and using data to inform decisions.
- Knowledge of No/SQL databases, including Postgres and MongoDB.
What we offer:
- 100% remote with flexible work hours.
- Competitive compensation, including paid time off.
- Budget available to spend on going to conferences, co-working space, home office equipment, etc.
- Work with very experienced and fun team members.
- An atmosphere that encourages learning and personal growth, and that gives you lots of freedom, flexibility, and responsibilities.
- You will work at the forefront of search, ML/AI, and cloud-native technologies - and all of it is open source.
