Job Overview

WeatherShield Maintenance Group is recruiting General Maintenance Operatives to work across social housing and residential maintenance contracts. This role is primarily for daytime planned and reactive maintenance works. Separate out-of-hours / emergency maintenance roles are also available and can be discussed with suitable applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general property maintenance and repair works in occupied and void properties
  • Complete a range of basic maintenance tasks including carpentry, patch plastering, decorating, fencing repairs, guttering, door adjustments, sealant works, minor plumbing repairs and paving
  • Work professionally in customer-occupied homes, including vulnerable residents
  • Follow company RAMS, method statements and health & safety procedures at all times
  • Record job updates, photographs and materials used via mobile systems
  • Maintain tools, PPE and work areas to a professional standard

Essential Requirements

  • Level 2 trade-specific qualification (e.g. Carpentry, Plumbing, Roofing, Brickwork or General Construction)
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Proven experience in general maintenance or social housing repairs
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach

Working Hours

  • Day works: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00
  • Out-of-hours roles are available separately
  • Day operatives are not required to undertake emergency cover

Pay, Vehicles and Insurance

  • £200 per day base rate
  • Additional £30 per day where authorised to use own vehicle
  • Company vehicles may be provided depending on role and availability

The role is offered on a self-employed / CIS basis. Operatives must hold Public Liability Insurance with a minimum £2 million cover. Where own vehicles are used, business-use motor insurance is required.
