Weatherford is seeking experienced Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Technicians to join the ISDT (Intervention Services & Drilling Tools) Team in Altens, Aberdeen. The R&M Technician performs hands-on tasks utilizing Weatherford’s facilities, equipment, machinery, and systems. The role covers inspection, repair, and maintenance of field tools, from receiving through dismantling, repairing, refurbishing, to preparing for next assignment. Tasks span the entire process using technical manuals, procedures, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all daily operations and safety meetings, toolbox talks, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and promptly report issues using appropriate tools.
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and work areas in a presentable and safe condition.
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, cranes, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments, or electrical/electronic testing devices.
  • Inspect used parts to determine dimensional changes using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
  • Follow maintenance processes and procedures to unload, disassemble, clean, pressure-test, visually check, paint, assemble, load, and store tools, completing all necessary documentation as required for the assigned training and competence level.
  • Initiate, update, close out forms, checklists, and work orders during equipment maintenance, following processes and procedures appropriate to the training level.
  • Use all tools and lifting equipment for opening and closing crates and containers, and use pallet/forklift trucks to move equipment safely between vehicles, storage areas, racks, shelves, and bins.
  • Must be certified for lifting equipment, including forklifts and cranes.
  • Accept incoming shipments and prepare dispatch shipments, validating quantities and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complies with company procedures.
  • Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogues or approved suppliers following Weatherford’s guidelines and procedures.
  • Support and comply with LEAN initiatives and participate in continuous efficiency improvement programs.
  • Perform other duties and activities safely as assigned by supervisor within the job’s physical constraints.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in an oil and gas workshop environment.
  • Basic mathematics.
  • Experience working with hazardous materials, radioactive elements, and explosives.
  • Awareness of NDT, NDE and ATEX policies and principles.
  • Ability to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and monitoring of equipment.
  • Critical thinking, active learning, listening, and complex problem-solving.
  • Good reading and writing skills, strong judgment and decision-making in line with policies and procedures.
  • Good time management.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands required by the role.
  • Preferred forklift certificate for 5-ton.
  • Ability to react effectively and efficiently in operating tools and machinery.
  • Ability to visualize how tools and products will look when preparing for assembly, repair, or modification.
