RISK MANAGEMENT SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER

ALTENS, ABERDEEN

The Risk Management Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for developing and implementation of manufacturing quality improvement plans to drive Supplies toward ZERO DEFECTS and ZERO QUALITY ESCAPES. In addition to striving for reduction of company Cost of Quality (COQ) while standardizing quality best practices across the Weatherford Global Suppliers. A successful candidate will collaborate closely with Sourcing, Engineering, Product Lines, Manufacturing and his/her supervisor on a regular basis as well as present to internal teams plans and updates.

QUALITY

  • Responsible for being familiar with the Company’s Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management System.
  • Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement.

OPERATIONS

  • Apply techniques and tools to drive Supplier improvements in output quality by working with Suppliers to identify and remove the causes of defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing related processes.
  • Assist the development and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans to drive Suppliers toward Zero Defects and Zero Quality Escapes as well as reduction of Cost of Quality (COQ).
  • Collect, analyse and summarize quality performance data, apply statistical tools and reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify, document, communicate and standardize best practices to reduce defects.
  • Implement systematic approach to NCR performance management, tracking, trending and reporting.
  • Identify technical competences required by different Suppliers to build products per Engineering technical documentation.
  • Assist Suppliers in the implementation and improvement of quality related systems, process and tools.
  • Coordinate and perform Supplier audits.
  • Review and validate Supplier inspection test reports for completeness and conformance.
  • Interpret Design Engineering data (including blueprints, Bills of Material, specifications), and customer requirements.
  • Develop positive relationships and work closely with Sourcing, Engineering, and Manufacturing Quality Leaders, to manage and implement changes related to quality improvements.
  • Identify and report any quality concerns and require immediate corrective action as required.

COMMUNICATION

  • Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Supervisors and Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports.
  • Prepare Supplier performance reports.

FINANCIAL

  • Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames and following the relevant financial policy and procedure.

  • Supervisors should collaborate with Human Resources & Training Development to drive strategies for the recruitment and retention of key personal and to foster an environment that supports the attraction and retention of a high performing talented workforce.

Required:

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality or Engineering (with Quality focus) in an industrial related business.
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience with quality related continuous improvement programs.

Preferred:

  • Root Cause Analysis Incident Investigation Training.
  • Lean & Six Sigma Training.

Required:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, procedures and specifications.
  • Demonstrated skills related to problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, leadership, root-cause analysis, and team collaboration to lead and influence others to drive change.
  • Demonstrated report-writing skills.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills between functions – verbal and written.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 50-70% of time.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to evoke critical thinking.

Preferred:

  • Weatherford enterprise and management systems knowledge.
  • Document management and control experience.
  • Experience using JDE.
  • Experience leading in a matrixed organization.
