Job Purpose: Reeves Wireline Technologies Ltd (part of Weatherford International) are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist (Setter/Operator/Programmer) to join the team in East Leake, Loughborough. We are looking for candidates that preferably have experience using Heidenhain controls, to produce precision components for our advanced geophysical exploration equipment serving the international oil, gas and mineral exploration industries. This role is focused on the full CNC machining process — programming, setup, and high‑tolerance production. Manual lathes machining experience is beneficial but not essential.
Responsibilities:
- CNC Machining: Program, set and operate CNC milling machines using Heidenhain operating systems to manufacture precision components.
- Create, modify, and optimise CNC programs directly at the machine and/or from engineering drawings.
- Select appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds and machining strategies.
- Conduct first‑off inspections and adjust offsets/programs to maintain tolerance.
- Improve machining processes and reduce cycle times.
- Maintain accuracy through routine tool checks and machine monitoring.
Quality & Measurement:
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Inspect components using micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision instruments.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and surface finish.
Workshop Support:
- Conduct routine machine maintenance.
- Awareness of health & safety procedures in a workshop environment.
- Awareness of lean principles including 5S methodologies.
- Troubleshoot machining issues.
Requirements:
- Proven CNC Machinist experience.
- Strong Heidenhain machine control experience.
- Ability to interpret drawings and machining instructions.
- Strong understanding of cutting tools and machining principles.
- Competent in precision measurement.
- Problem‑solving ability and teamwork.
- Good understanding of health & safety and 5S.
- Self‑motivated and organised.
- Vocational machining qualifications or certification.
- Experience in precision engineering sectors.
Preferred:
- Ability to operate manual lathes or milling machines when required.
