The Opportunity
We're looking for a 3D Design Director to join our London based team on a 6 months contract. In this role you will own the creative execution of retail environments and experiences — from concept to delivery. You'll set and hold the creative standard across every touchpoint, bringing the precision and craft that makes the difference between good work and defining work. As the creative anchor across key client projects, you'll translate strategic vision into emotionally resonant design outcomes that work in the real world. You'll lead multidisciplinary teams, build trusted client relationships, and report to the Creative Director while working closely with Strategy Directors, Account Directors, and Project Managers. You'll collaborate fluently with internal strategists, designers and project leads, as well as external consultants, fabricators and brand partners — bringing deep knowledge of retail design fundamentals, material craft, and a sharp eye for where technology and creativity converge meaningfully within physical space.
What you’ll do
- Creative Leadership
- Hold the creative bar across key client projects, ensuring every output meets our standard of conceptual ambition and strategic intent
- Translate high-level creative direction into actionable, detail-oriented guidance that keeps teams aligned
- Push ideas further, sustaining creative momentum without losing coherence or brand integrity
- Lead with empathy and authority, ensuring calm under pressure
- Be culturally curious and forward-thinking, always seeking innovation and relevance
- Team Development
- Mentor and develop Associate Design Directors and Senior Designers, guiding creative thinking, craft, and confidence
- Through excellent communication, unite multiple disciplines behind a shared vision
- Lead design reviews and workshops, providing clear, constructive feedback that sharpens ideas and execution
- Build an environment of shared ownership and pride, encouraging initiative and growth across the team
- Client Engagement
- Act as the creative lead in client presentations, articulating ideas with confidence and clarity
- Build trusted, collaborative relationships with clients, agencies, and external partners, working in a way that invites creative bravery
- Represent the studio's design vision externally, helping position it as a leader in experience and environment design
- Creative Process & Delivery
- Own the design process from initial concept through to construction delivery, maintaining rigorous standards of craft, documentation, and presentation at every stage
- Balance creative ambition with pragmatism to deliver exceptional, buildable outcomes
- Collaborate closely with Project Management and Client Services to maintain clarity on scope, timeline, and priorities
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, design systems, and studio workflows
- Contribute to scope writing with a strong understanding of how individual projects sit within wider business commercials
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years of experience in retail environments, experiential design, brand activation, and spatial storytelling with a portfolio that demonstrates both conceptual ambition and executional excellence
- Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills: able to command a room, articulate a vision across strategy decks, storyboards, and immersive 3D concepts, and bring clients and teams with you
- Proficiency with collaborative design tools (Figma/Miro) with a strong hand for sketching, able to guide teams across tools and workflows with authority
- Working knowledge of Cinema 4D and Vectorworks desirable
- Strategic integration of AI-assisted and generative tools, not just as part of the process, but to push the boundaries of what’s possible and inspire teams to explore new creative territory
- A proven track record of fostering a hands‑on, experimental studio culture. Leading by example, championing iteration, and creating the conditions for bold ideas to thrive
What we offer

- 3 days in the office and 2 day WFH hybrid working pattern
