The Online Technology team has led the delivery of platform outcomes, scaling to over 1.3m orders per week and launching online propositions such as Whoosh, Marketplace and F&F. Over the next few years, the team will grow Whoosh, push Marketplace and scale the Clothing mission to become a single‑stop shop. This role focuses on transforming the non‑food side of the online business and delivering new customer technology.

The Role – Technical Programme Manager

  • Deliver programmes with business and technical risks.
  • Optimise or apply a standard programme delivery methodology (e.g., agile, waterfall, iterative).
  • Coordinate and energise virtual technology teams to achieve programme goals.
  • Create and track a plan to deliver the programme goals, including the technical implementation plan.
  • Understand trade‑offs and communicate impacts so that Product, Infrastructure or Engineering can decide.
  • Manage dependencies, delivery timelines and implementation plans using knowledge of technical architecture.
  • Respond to delivery challenges using engineering best practices and infrastructure knowledge.
  • Grasp new technology concepts quickly and assess implications on delivery.
  • Effectively manage major incidents, updating stakeholders to drive correct decisions.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers and external stakeholders to deliver software or professional services.
  • Coach peers and other roles on methodologies and programme management tools.

Qualifications

  • Proven record of delivering technology and/or infrastructure across multiple teams and geographies.
  • Experience building credible relationships and influencing management and leadership teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
