Working as a Senior Product Manager within our Network optimisation team, you will own the roadmap for products that bridge two key horizons – the operational tools used day to day to configure and manage our fulfilment points and their capacities, alongside a set of decision support tools utilised to make strategic decisions about medium and long term network configurations. This exciting role puts you at the heart of decisions about what we can fulfil, from where and how it impacts top line business metrics like Carbon Emissions and transportation costs. You will be working closely with a team of data scientists and engineers to build the tools that define Tesco. This is a 14 month FTC covering maternity leave.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities through collaborative continuous discovery
- Evolve and drive the product vision, strategy, and the long-term roadmap
- Proactively partner with peers and senior stakeholders to set the future direction of my product as part of the wider business strategy
- Understand key user personas, customers & stakeholders for the product and their pain points.
- Am accountable for the performance/adoption of the products you work on and work towards achieving the Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs)
- Prioritise work and decisively resolve trade-offs with peers and senior leaders
- Effectively document and explain new requirements to the engineering team using user stories with acceptance criteria and help the team in breaking down complex work into smaller, deliverable chunks of value that can be delivered faster.
- Steer sprint/release planning sessions by working with the engineering counterparts to plan sprints/releases that deliver maximum business value in least effort
- Drive the acceptance and adoption of ideas and improvements with product teams and engineering stakeholders
- Prioritise coordinate and communicate the resolution of live product issues independently
- Provide leadership and direction to cross functional team(s) on short-term tasks/ near-term priorities
- Be the subject matter expert for Network Optimisation building on my history of delivering value
- Act as a role model to other product managers, engaging in upskilling, mentoring and sharing of best practices in product
Qualifications
- Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions and apply the right data type to the right situation.
- Expert understanding of machine learning concepts and the ability to leverage them to build impactful products.
- Knowledge of large‑scale data platforms and how they support scalability, availability, performance, and security.
- Strong grounding in the full Product Management lifecycle and an Agile mindset to discover, design, define, develop, and deliver high‑value increments.
- A data‑driven approach to prioritisation and the ability to apply consistent prioritisation frameworks.
- Proficiency with tools used to create and maintain product roadmaps.
- Understanding of how roadmaps create alignment and buy‑in across stakeholders and teams.
- Strong commercial awareness, including knowledge of key business drivers, metrics, and performance indicators, and the ability to contribute to decision‑making.
