An exciting opportunity to shape how Tesco tackles food surplus at scale. This role sits within the Technology Store Colleague Experience team, driving solutions that unlock greater food redistribution, improve waste accuracy and compliance, and directly support Tesco's ESG ambitions, including the commitment to halve food waste. Working in a high-performing, cross-functional team, this role will define and deliver products that transform how surplus stock is identified, managed, and redistributed across Tesco. From enabling smarter, data-driven decisions to simplifying store processes, this is a role with real business impact and meaningful contribution to sustainability. This is a 20 month FTC covering maternity leave.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve and deliver the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Stock Surplus Management, aligned to Tesco's sustainability and loss reduction goals.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Technology, Stores, Commercial, and Supply Chain to deliver joined-up, end-to-end outcomes.
  • Understand store colleague journeys, user needs, and operational pain points to drive meaningful improvements.
  • Work closely with Research, Design, Analytics, and Engineering to develop solutions that reduce waste, improve compliance, and enable redistribution.
  • Use data to proactively identify surplus risks and drive smarter, faster decision-making.
  • Prioritise effectively, balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategic goals and resolving trade-offs with senior stakeholders.
  • Translate complex problems into clear product requirements, using user stories and acceptance criteria to enable efficient delivery.
  • Drive adoption of new capabilities across stores, ensuring solutions are intuitive and deliver real operational value.
  • Own product performance, tracking adoption, impact, and progress against key outcomes and OKRs.
  • Manage live product issues with clear communication and prioritisation to minimise disruption to store operations.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging practices to continuously improve surplus management and waste reduction capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Strong Product Management expertise, with a proven ability to define and execute a clear product vision and strategy that aligns teams and stakeholders around measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead across a complex stakeholder landscape, building alignment, driving change, and delivering tangible business value.
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, enterprise environments, working across multiple product and engineering teams to deliver scalable, end-to-end solutions.
  • Deep understanding of user-centred design principles, with the ability to translate user needs and research insights into impactful product decisions.
  • Data-driven mindset, using customer, operational, and market insights to shape product strategy and prioritisation.
  • Strong grasp of modern product delivery practices, including agile methodologies and iterative delivery to unlock value quickly and continuously.
  • Good understanding of how large-scale technology platforms and APIs interact, with an ability to balance technical constraints and business needs.
  • Ability to simplify complexity, breaking down large problems into clear, deliverable increments with pace and clarity.
