We're looking for a senior systems engineer to lead the design, delivery, and evolution of collaboration and productivity platforms across Tesco. The role owns technology strategy and roadmap execution across Microsoft 365, collaboration services, and emerging Generative AI capabilities, developing solutions from concept through to operational handover.
Responsibilities
- Own the architectural strategy and roadmap for collaboration and productivity platforms, ensuring alignment to cost, security, governance, and colleague experience.
- Design and deliver new technologies and platform enhancements from conception through to operational support.
- Act as the senior engineering authority for collaboration technologies, representing Workplace Engineering across Tesco Technology and with vendors.
- Influence product and vendor roadmaps, contributing to commercial decisions and business cases.
- Ensure services are secure, resilient, scalable, and operable, with automation and service improvement built in by design.
- Coach and mentor engineers, driving consistent engineering standards and outcomes across the team.
Qualifications
- Significant experience delivering complex collaboration or workplace platforms in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Deep hands‑on and architectural experience across Microsoft 365 services including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform, and Copilot technologies.
- Strong understanding of identity, security, compliance, data protection, and backup/recovery within Microsoft cloud ecosystems.
- Proven ability to manage technology lifecycles, vendor relationships, and commercial trade-offs.
- Strong communicator, able to influence senior stakeholders and partner effectively with architects, product managers, and suppliers.
Nice to Have
- Advanced PowerShell and automation skills.
- Experience with large‑scale data migration and hybrid environments.
- Exposure to Azure infrastructure and virtualisation platforms.
