Risk Engineering (“RE”), which is part of the Risk Division, is a central part of the Goldman Sachs risk management framework, with primary responsibility to provide robust metrics, data-driven insights, and effective technologies for risk management. RE is staffed globally with offices including New York, Dallas, Salt Lake City, London, Warsaw, Bengaluru, Singapore, and Tokyo. Analytics & Reporting (A&R) is responsible for reviewing, publishing, interpreting and communicating the firm’s independent and authoritative risk and capital measures. This includes understanding financial/non-financial risk by analyzing risk and capital metrics to evaluate, explain and justify features and emerging trends observed in the Firm’s risk data.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a VP-level candidate to join the A&R – Capital and Financial Reporting team. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a pan-risk team responsible for the calculation and analysis of capital metrics and stress test results, with a focus on the delivery of operational risk components of the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) exercise and the calculation of Operational Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), involving:
- Managing the end-to-end CCAR operational risk loss projection process, establishing and communicating timelines to achieve timely completion of a key regulatory deliverable and performing review and challenge to ensure high-quality output
- Calculating and analysing Operational RWA results
- Liaising with groups such as Modelers/Strats, Controllers, Enterprise Risk, trading and investing businesses, Legal, Compliance, Model Risk Management and the firm’s Insurance group to gather inputs and communicate insights
- Working with Operational Risk specialists in domains such as cyber risk and algorithmic trading risk who review risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) results and business environment and internal control factors (BEICFs) and facilitate workshops with trading and investing businesses to inform scenario analysis used to estimate loss projections
- Identifying areas of potential improvement and interpreting the results of sensitivity analysis to fine-tune methodologies and assumptions and achieve the appropriate balance of conservativeness and commerciality
- Working with Engineers to develop, test and integrate enhanced workflows to deliver automation, maximize efficiency, improve control and enhance the results’ timeliness and accuracy
- Writing and consolidating documentation to explain processes, and contributing to firmwide documents such as the firm’s Capital Plan
- Presenting to and preparing materials for the firm’s internal governing bodies such as Risk Committees and executive members of the firm
- Interacting with the firm’s external governing bodies such as external regulators and industry groups

SKILLS AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Masters or Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline such as financial engineering, economics, mathematics, physics, econometrics or engineering
- Experience of risk measurement, operational risk management and/or the delivery of regulatory projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Entrepreneurial, creative, self-motivated and team-orientated
- Practical knowledge of mathematics and numerical algorithms, including statistics and time series analysis
- Experience with, or keen interest to develop expertise in, development of risk analytics, interpretation and productivity tools for cultivating insights into risk & capital metric data
- Experience with, or keen interest to develop expertise in, pricing, risk and capital models
- Experience with, or keen interest to develop expertise in, financial markets & economics
