About the job:

The Creative Lab is a small team of designers, writers, programmers, filmmakers, producers and business thinkers whose mission is to remind the world what it is they love about Google. Our job is to make Google’s magic more magical, help advance and invent Google’s future, and to communicate Google’s innovations, intentions and ideals in ways that makes us all immensely proud. Like Google itself, the Creative Lab is ambitious and innovative enough to come up with ideas that push the notion of what is possible and what is practical. We are designers, writers, programmers, filmmakers, producers and business thinkers that spend 99.9% of our time making. We are a small team that pushes for an impact that outweighs our footprint. Our job is to make Google’s magic more magical, help invent Google’s future, and communicate Google’s innovations, intent and ideals in ways that manifest to the world the usefulness of our technologies, products and platforms.

As a Motion Designer, you are a progressive, tech savvy, and a big thinker who helps succeed and extend the Google brand. In this role, you're expected to conceive and execute breakthrough ideas that will have as much impact in the history of creativity as Google's products have in technology. Know the user. Know the magic. Connect the two. At its core, marketing at Google starts with technology and ends with the user, bringing both together in unconventional ways. Our job is to demonstrate how Google's products solve the world's problems--from the everyday to the epic, from the mundane to the monumental. And we approach marketing in a way that only Google can--changing the game, redefining the medium, making the user the priority, and ultimately, letting the technology speak for itself.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept, design, and animate high-quality motion graphics and visual effects using emerging and industry-standard tools.
  • Take ownership of projects, ensuring all motion work aligns with the brand guidelines and creative goal.
  • Research, test, and implement new technologies and workflows to enhance efficiency and creative output.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest and comfort level discussing and experimenting with AI tools (e.g., generative image/video models) and their potential application in motion design.
  • Work closely with creatives, technologists, marketers and producers, etc. to interpret project briefs and provide technical and creative solutions.

Google is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
