The Opportunity
We’re seeking Managers to join our FS Private Capital team, bringing strong tax advisory experience in asset management – including international fund structuring and UK corporate tax. You’ll lead key client relationships, broaden your exposure, and help drive strategic growth across asset management and private capital. EY’s FS Private Capital Tax team, based in London and Manchester, advises leading UK businesses, US inbound groups, and global asset managers across hedge funds, private equity, credit, and real estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding tax advisory projects across a range of matters including fund tax, international tax, UK corporation tax, UK income tax, capital gains tax, and other tax matters relevant to the Wealth and Asset Management sector.
- Aligned to a portfolio of long‑term accounts, which you can build deep relationships with, and become their trusted advisor.
- Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff.
- Give the management of the team both in terms of strategy and operations and through managing staff development and assignments.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients.
- Proactive business development to win new work.
- Interaction with other EY offices both in the UK and overseas.
- Contact with HM Revenue & Customs and other third parties, including major financial institutions, lawyers and wealth advisory businesses.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Demonstrated track record of providing tax advice to asset management clients and their funds, including on international tax matters.
- Familiarity with the alternative asset management and/or private assets industry, with hedge funds, private equity funds and credit funds being of particular interest.
- Experience across a range of fund tax matters, including fund formation, acquisitions and disposals of assets, reorganisations, and asset management structures.
- Evidence of client‑centricity and contributing to a culture of exceptional client service, including strong client relationship management skills with ability to grow client relationships and prepare quality deliverables for clients.
- The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a team and to contribute to people culture within team or wider firm.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including explaining complex tax topics and recommendations to a non‑tax audience.
- Attention to detail and the ability to complete work to a high professional standard.
- Enthusiastic team player with ability to create, sustain and lead effective teams.
- Ensure delivery of quality work and take day‑to‑day leadership of delivery team.
- ACA / CTA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification.
- Strong tax technical skills.
- Initiative, professionalism and confidence.
- Experience of coaching and developing junior staff.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- The ability to motivate a team; manage, mentor and train junior staff and work with people from across the business.
- Asset Management tax advisory experience within an accounting firm or law firm.
