Thales are looking for a HSE Officer to be an active member of the HSE Department. You will work to achieve world-class Health, Safety and Environmental performance by actively supporting the improvement of the various Management System processes and business performance.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Provide HSE support to operational teams to identify risks and implement effective controls
  • Complete and review risk assessments, and support incident/near-miss reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and preventative actions
  • Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement and delivery of H&S training across a 3-shift system (inductions, manual handling, toolbox talks fire management and drills), maintaining training and health surveillance matrices
  • Support contractor management, including RAMS review, permits, inductions, and on-site performance monitoring
  • Conduct inspections and audits, driving action follow-up, supporting ISO 14001, 45001, and 50001 audit readiness and close-out
  • Maintain HSE systems and records, including incident logging, action tracking, compliance dashboards, documentation, PPE management, and reporting tools
  • Support HSE initiatives, Net Zero programmes, and communications, including facilitating HSE committee meetings and ensuring consistent standards across sites

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in the areas of Health, Safety and Environmental Management
  • NEBOSH certified
  • A practical understanding of HSE legislation with experience of implementation of controls to minimize risk of injury to staff
  • A good appreciation of impacts to our environment and options to minimise such impacts
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail to spot various hazards and complete investigations
  • Formal qualification in Health & Safety Law would be beneficial

Security Clearance Requirement: Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). The successful candidate may commence employment upon obtaining BPSS clearance, with Security Clearance (SC) to be achieved and maintained as a condition of ongoing employment. To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
