Technology plays a critical role in combatting economic crime. As a Lead Engineer in our Economic Crime domain, you'll lead the charge in delivering robust, resilient, and high-performing solutions that enhance fraud prevention, reduce operational costs, and minimise financial losses. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, resilience and enhancements of technology solutions across the Economic Crime domain. You will provide technology leadership, growing our engineering and data capabilities to deliver our technology and data strategy.
Your impact:
- Leading a team of skilled engineers across Nationwide and our strategic technology partners in the UK and India.

- Drive automation and simplification across the economic crime tech estate, including CI/CD pipelines and data optimisation.

What you'll be doing
We have an exciting and extensive Economic Crime technology portfolio to deliver over the coming years, including implementing fraud detection in the Cloud, simplifying our case management, integrating with our strategic data platforms, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will play a key role in delivering our integration with Virgin Money. From the outset, you will focus on ensuring the quality, resilience, and performance of our Economic Crime application estate, with a strong emphasis on enhancing security, automation, and data integrity. You will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and project teams to provide technical leadership and engineering expertise on both inflight and upcoming projects, including:
- Leading the design, testing, implementation, and ongoing improvements of data and technology solutions within Economic Crime.
- Supporting the execution of the Economic Crime technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Driving adherence to engineering principles, patterns, and best practices to maximise resilience and efficiency.
- Strengthening security and control measures within Economic Crime applications and data environments.
Using your leadership and subject matter expertise, you will work with stakeholders to shape, influence, and enhance how Economic Crime technology supports and protects the organisation.
