We are looking for an experienced and highly talented geologist who specialises in spectral geology to work on our integrated geology projects and perform geological interpretation using satellite remote‑sensing datasets. The role involves creating and contributing high‑quality data products and comprehensive reports, while collaborating closely with team members to ensure seamless integration of results across disciplines. The incumbent will also support the Geology team by taking on additional tasks as needed and will play a key part in business development by promoting our spectral geology services through client presentations and interactions.
You will be part of the Satellite Mapping group, based in our Crawley office, within the Geological Remote Sensing team. The team delivers projects across the Environmental, Oil & Gas, and Minerals markets. Satellite Mapping offers a supportive, close‑knit team environment with varied, fast‑moving work that enables rapid learning, quick decision‑making, and strong visibility for your contributions. With dedicated R&D and processing teams, supported by high‑performance computing (HPC) resources, this role will enable the successful candidate to deliver spectral geology products efficiently at significant scale, handling large radar, multispectral and hyperspectral datasets, aiding the automation of repeatable workflows, and producing consistent outputs across multiple regions and project areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply strong spectral analysis expertise, grounded in geological understanding, to generate new insights for projects worldwide, from satellite remote sensing datasets.
- Create and contribute to high‑quality geological interpretations and reports.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless integration of results.
- Contribute to business development by promoting our spectral geology services through presentations and client interactions.
- When required, work on other tasks within the Satellite Mapping team as per business needs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- MSc in Geology, Remote Sensing, or other related discipline.
- Minimum 2-3 years professional experience in a relevant commercial role.
- Robust understanding of spectral geology principles and workflows.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting hyperspectral imagery and derived products.
- Proficiency with industry standard image processing packages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Structural geology knowledge/experience.
- Understanding of mineral systems.
- Experience in mineral exploration and/or mining geology.
- Experience with Python, including batch processing.
