Minimum qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in speech writing and working directly with senior executives.
  • 2 years of experience writing for the technology sector, specifically within AI or machine learning.
  • Experience interviewing subject matter experts to translate technical ideas into published communications.
  • Experience staffing senior executives for public engagements and managing media relations with journalists.
  • Experience managing corporate social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools.
  • Experience executing multimedia content creation, including blogs, articles, and keynotes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience communicating scientific and technical concepts related to AGI and sociotechnical research.
  • Experience navigating ambiguous, fast-paced environments while effectively prioritising simultaneous complex projects.
  • Expertise in visual storytelling and creative content development across different digital mediums.
  • Track record of building trust with executive leadership, policy experts, media, and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding and interest in the societal impacts of AI, AGI, and AI-powered scientific innovations.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Chief AGI Scientist and Post AGI Research team to conceptualise, write, and edit high-impact thought leadership, speeches, and internal and external communications focused on socio-technical research.
  • Provide comprehensive communications support for high-visibility executive speaking engagements and internal events, leading content preparation, presentation development, and logistics.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies for executive channels, managing content creation, analysing metrics, and optimising for maximum engagement.
  • Serve as the key media contact for the Post AGI team, managing journalist relationships, coordinating interviews, and defining communication plans based on public perception.
  • Stay deeply informed on AI industry trends and collaborate with internal departments to ensure messaging aligns with Google DeepMind's mission and business objectives.
