A Senior Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer with a strong manufacturing focus is needed to join GT Wings, one of the UK's most exciting clean shipping technology companies. If your background includes large mechanical assemblies, heavy structural systems or marine scale engineering, this is a rare opportunity to apply your expertise to world first technology shaping the future of commercial vessel design.

GT Wings is at a pivotal stage of growth. With its first full scale AirWing installation complete and multiple commercial projects underway, the company is scaling from prototype into repeatable production. Engineering led and purpose driven, GT Wings combines innovation with precision to deliver powerful, class compliant hardware that helps decarbonise global shipping.

Joining as a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer, you will take ownership of key AirWing subsystems, from design (3D Models) through to manufacturing release. You will integrate large mechanical and structural components into cohesive, production ready assemblies, ensuring designs are robust, safe and optimised for real world marine conditions whilst aligned with cost targets. This role is hands on and delivery focused.

You will work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners, apply strong Design for Manufacture principles, resolve build and integration challenges, and continuously improve subsystem performance as the product scales.

To qualify:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Structural or Marine Engineering (or related subject)
  • 5+ years hands-on experience designing mechanical systems in a production environment
  • Proven ability to take designs from concept through to manufacture and assembly in marine, wind, offshore or similar environments
  • Experience working with fabrication, welding or large structural assemblies
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles
  • Confidence operating in fast moving build and scale up environments with accountability
  • Sound engineering judgement and practical problem solving ability
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX (or equivalent 3D CAD) or exposure to class requirements such as DNV or LR, actuation systems or structural validation would be advantageous

In return, you will join an ambitious start-up at a defining stage of growth, working on leading edge maritime hardware with support from experienced technical leadership. Expect a competitive salary (£55-65k DOE), hybrid flexibility (3 days in office), private healthcare and genuine scope to grow as GT Wings scales globally.
