A hands on, delivery focused Project Engineer is needed to join GT Wings on a contract basis (£40-£60 p/h), supporting the execution of its AirWing programme during a critical scale up phase. GT Wings has completed its first full scale AirWing installation and is now moving into repeatable production and commercial deployment. As engineering complexity increases, delivery discipline becomes essential.
This contract role is about maintaining pace, clarity and execution across a fast moving hardware programme. As Project Engineer, you will drive day to day engineering coordination across mechanical, controls, performance and external suppliers. You will translate product direction into structured work packages with defined owners and outcomes, ensuring outputs are aligned and ready for manufacturing and class submission. This is not a reporting role. It is embedded, technical delivery leadership.
You will identify interface risks between subsystems, challenge unclear scope, maintain visibility of engineering priorities and actively remove blockers that threaten milestones. You will ensure documentation, configuration control and engineering outputs are complete and consistent before release to production. Working closely with the Head of Engineering and discipline leads, you will step into a live programme and bring structure, urgency and technical clarity.
To qualify:
- You should be a Project Engineer, Marine Engineer, Delivery Engineer, Systems Integration Engineer, Senior Project Engineer or similar with a CV that demonstrates:
- Degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine Engineering or related discipline
- Strong experience delivering complex hardware systems into production
- Proven ability to drive engineering work from concept through to manufacturing release
- Experience coordinating across multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers
- Solid understanding of engineering workflows, documentation and configuration control
- Confidence operating in fast paced, accountable environments
- Exposure to class society requirements such as DNV or LR, system level integration, installation or field operations, and experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter would be advantageous.
This is a high impact contract role (£40-£60 p/h) suited to someone who can step in quickly, bring structure to engineering execution and maintain delivery momentum during a key growth phase. Hybrid working is supported, with three days per week onsite in Southampton.
