MAPP Building Consultancy is a leading firm of chartered surveyors. We seek a skilled electrical engineer to support the Building Consultancy and Sustainability teams with specialist electrical input and technical design capabilities. The ideal candidate will have five to seven years of industry experience, be able to run projects, review electrical services and optimise building performance across our commercial real estate portfolio and support net‑zero carbon strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and coordination of electrical services, systems and installation on engineering projects.
- Undertake electrical engineering designs and calculations using appropriate technical software (Amtech, DIALux).
- Coordinate and collaborate with building surveyors, architects, engineers and sustainability team members to integrate decarbonisation opportunities and energy‑efficient system design.
- Prepare technical reports and specifications in accordance with client briefs.
- Produce technical drawings.
- Attend and participate in client, internal and external project meetings.
- Validate and review calculations, specifications, drawings and reports produced by others.
- Undertake site visits on engineering projects.
- Manage engineering projects.
- Liaise with external third parties (clients, contractors, architects) regarding information and technical queries.
- Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the MAPP project delivery process from a project management, financial management, QA/QC and technical review perspective.
- Fulfil compliance and policy requirements in accordance with MAPP policies, procedures, and relevant legislative frameworks.
- Monitor statutory and internal compliance, including RICS and ISO standards.
- Proficiency in simulation software (Amtech, DIALux) and AutoCAD for 2‑D design drawings.
- Strong understanding of British Standards, Approved Documents, IET Wiring Regulations, CIBSE Codes/Guidance; knowledge of ASHRAE standards desirable.
- Experience in electrical building services within the commercial real estate sector.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering/Building Services Engineering or related field (Masters preferred).
- Membership in CIBSE, IET, or equivalent professional body.
- Proactive management of continuing professional development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage own workload, meet deadlines and embrace change.
- Innovative problem‑solving and service delivery mindset.
