Magnetic is a leading independent design and innovation company — B Corp certified, London-based, and built on a decade of delivering real impact for ambitious organisations. Our partners have included Google, Mars, Waitrose, Bupa, Save the Children, the London Stock Exchange, and Innovate UK. We work with startups, governments, and global brands across healthcare, FMCG, and financial services to create products, services, and strategies that drive growth and make a difference. Our purpose is simple: designing better futures. It's shaped everything we've built — our culture, our work, and how we show up for our clients.
We've always punched above our weight. Now we're scaling with sharper focus and greater ambition — evolving from a trusted delivery partner into a strategic innovation partner embedded in our clients' most complex challenges. That means shaping markets, not just responding to them. Designing for the future, not just the brief.
Magnetic Designers come from all kinds of backgrounds — lifetime creatives, career-changers, specialists who found their way to design. What we share is a common toolkit: visual design, Design Thinking, prototyping, and the drive to make things happen. Our more senior team members bring leadership, coaching, business development, and deep client empathy into the mix. We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves. This role is London-based at our studio, with client travel as required. We offer flexible working arrangements and inclusive employment policies to support that.
What will you be doing?
- Generate innovative ideas, solve problems creatively, and shape them into clear, coherent solutions centred around client needs.
- Support the team in developing and delivering meaningful, exciting design work.
- Push creative and innovative thinking further — inspiring colleagues to raise the bar.
- Help improve team processes and ways of working to demonstrate our design capability and quality.
- Attend, contribute to, and facilitate client workshops — interrogating problems, provoking discussion, and surfacing solutions.
- Senior designers will also coach and mentor colleagues, developing their hard and soft skills and inspiring them to new creative heights.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for an Innovation Designer with solid experience in concept design and who is comfortable supporting or leading digital projects. You'll bring:
- A strong grounding in Design Thinking and user research, with hands‑on experience applying it across projects.
- Proficiency across key design tools — Figma (including Figma Make), Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, and After Effects.
- Versatility across design disciplines, including graphic design, UX/UI, prototyping, service design, and video editing – ideally with a particular strength in one that you can demonstrate you are developing.
- A problem‑solving mindset — able to bring bold, original ideas to life through concepts and prototypes.
- Proficiency with AI design tools, using them thoughtfully to explore faster and push work further (ideally with experience using them in design sprints with clients).
- The ability to communicate and showcase design work through compelling storytelling and case studies (for example, working directly with clients on live design sprints and hands‑on projects).
- Excellent communication skills and strong self‑organisation.

Use of AI in applications
We recognise that you may choose to use AI tools to support aspects of your application – such as grammar, formatting, or drafting. We understand that using AI tools in this way can help you express your strengths more clearly. However, your final submission must be a genuine, accurate reflection of your own skills, experience, and understanding of the role. To support integrity and transparency in our recruitment process, we ask that you include a brief note explaining where and how AI tools were used.
