A London-based insurance organisation is seeking an Underwriting Manager (12 Month FTC) to support underwriting performance, governance, and reporting within a Lloyd's syndicate environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of internal and external underwriting reports, ensuring all regulatory returns are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Manage and develop analysts within the Underwriting Management team.
  • Ensure underwriting controls and policy documentation remain effective and compliant with evolving regulations.
  • Take ownership of the year-end audit process, liaising with auditors and resolving queries efficiently.
  • Drive continuous improvement across underwriting processes, reporting, and controls.
  • Support strategic projects to enhance underwriting capabilities, insights, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure data integrity, performance tracking, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years' experience within the Lloyd's market or insurance sector.
  • Proven experience in underwriting oversight, reporting, or portfolio management.
  • Line management experience with the ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting controls, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools; knowledge of SQL is advantageous.
