We are working with a large Life, Pensions and Investments provider who are looking for an experienced Finance Reporting Manager to join their finance function.
This is a senior position with responsibility for leading financial reporting, strengthening governance and controls, and providing insight into financial results.
You will work closely with Finance, Actuarial, Risk and senior stakeholders, with a strong focus on ensuring reporting is accurate, well controlled and delivered to agreed deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of quarterly and annual financial reporting, including balance sheet, income statement, reserves and financial movements.
- Oversee the production, review, reconciliation and analysis of financial results and provide sign-off recommendations.
- Analyse and explain financial results, identifying key drivers, assumption changes, experience variances, sensitivities and emerging risks.
- Work closely with Accounting and Actuarial teams to translate valuation and model outputs into meaningful financial results.
- Prepare commentary for governance papers, financial disclosures and senior/executive forums.
- Own and oversee the financial reporting control environment, ensuring appropriate validation, peer review and documentation.
- Lead responses to internal and external audit activity and regulatory queries.
- Develop and deliver improvements to reporting processes, with a focus on transparency, efficiency and reducing reporting cycle times.
- Act as a subject matter expert for financial reporting and define best practice across reporting activities.
- Lead cross-functional workstreams and influence stakeholders within a matrix environment.
About You
- Qualified Actuary (FIA/FFA or equivalent) or Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience within life insurance is essential.
- Strong experience in life insurance valuation and financial reporting.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, LUXGAAP and Solvency II.
- Experience leading financial reporting delivery and reviewing work produced by others.
- Strong analytical and control mindset, with the ability to challenge results, reconcile financial information and design effective controls.
- Experience working with the Finance and Actuarial interface, with the ability to communicate complex financial and valuation matters clearly.
- IFRS 17 experience, including CSM/RA methodology, transition approaches, disclosures and governance, would be highly desirable.
- Strong audit and governance experience, including responding to senior Finance, Actuarial and audit queries.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate confidently with senior leadership.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong aptitude for financial reporting systems and data flows.
- Experience supporting transformation, systems change or improvements to financial control frameworks would be advantageous.
